About
Lorenzo Di Loreto is an Italian born choreographer, dancer and filmmaker.
Di LoretO trained at the English National Ballet School in London, where he received a Diploma in "Professional dance" recognised by the Trinity College, London.
He was employed for most of his time at the Royal Danish Ballet, Copenhagen, Denmark, where he danced the majority of the classical repertoire while working with international choreographers like J.Kilian, Wayne McGregor, Sharon Eyal, Hofesh Shechter, Natalia Horecna, Cristopher Wheeldon, John Neumeier.
In 2021, Di Loreto was chosen by the Royal Danish theatre to take part in Koreorama, a choreographer development program of two years where he assisted classes of concept and creative development as well as production development, receiving a diploma in choreography in 2023. During these two years he choreographed smaller pieces for the Royal Danish Ballet and festivals like the “Equinox Chamber music festival” in Copenhagen.
His first completed work, the award-winning dance short film VIVIDREAM (2022), has received nominations at film festivals all around the world like the San Francisco dance film festival and the Cannes World film festival. It's been defined by Danish Magazine POV International as a "touching and poetic work... capturing something essential and real about the dreamy and transcendental world of dance”.
Di Loreto furthermore created Baroccata (February 2024), a new work set to music by Bach and Vivaldi for Milwaukee Ballet’s Genesis program, where it was honoured with the “Audience Favourite” Award.
In March 2024, his creation DON’T BE SCARED premiered at the Royal Danish Ballet as part of a triple bill program. The work received critical acclaim, with CPHCulture noting that “Lorenzo Di Loreto emerges as a surprisingly free and inquisitive artist, whose choreographic boldness one hopes will continue to evolve in the coming years.”
His most recent creation, Filigree, premiered in 2025 for Ballet Arkansas as part of the Nouveau program, in collaboration with the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts.
